We're here to help with any questions about getting started in real estate. Getting licensed in North Dakota is a big step, so we've gathered and answered the most common ones below.

The time it takes to get a North Dakota real estate salesperson license can vary. It may take up to a few months to complete the required Pre-Licensing education, go through the application process, schedule and take the state licensing examination, find a sponsoring broker, and submit your request for license.
The application fee for a North Dakota Salesperson is $150, plus additional fees for credit history and fingerprinting analysis. Licensees must also pay a $125 annual renewal fee — real estate licenses expire December 31st of each year unless renewed.
Note: These costs are subject to be changed by the state at any time.
In most cases, a Salesperson in North Dakota is less experienced than a Broker. There are also more requirements to become a Broker than there are to become a Salesperson. For example, to become a Broker, you must:
Be 18 or older
Be a resident of North Dakota
Must be actively engaged as a licensed real estate Salesperson for a period of two years preceding the date of application
Have completed a 60-hour Broker education course
Real estate applicants must undergo a criminal background check by completing The Criminal History Record Check Request Form (SFN 60688). Applicants will also need to submit their fingerprints prior to licensing. Applicants for a real estate license must possess a good reputation for competency, honesty, truthfulness, financial integrity and fair dealing. Applicants who believe their background may disqualify them from obtaining a real estate license should consider submitting an application PRIOR TO taking a Pre-Licensing education course.
